Fireproof - Full Movie Review

Have you ever been down in the dumps not knowing what to do and who to turn to? I was going through some hard times when I wanted to divorce my spouse, the man who meant everything to me in the past 15 years. We have two lovely children who love us both and don't want to see mommy and daddy fight over every single and insignificant thing. The deep love that I have for them and not wanting them to suffer is what made me postpone my decision. Luckily, I came across one movie that gave me a totally new perspective on my marriage and made me change up my mind - Fireproof.
Fireproof is an incredible movie that retails a transformational story about saving a marriage that is reaching the very bottom.
The writers and producers Alex Kendrick and Stephan Kendrick have made a well-bound pointing that every marriage can be saved if only you find the real source of love which is God. Their story talks about a fire chief Caleb Holt (Kirk Cameron), who gives his best saving people's lives from fire and other life-threatening situations and is lead by his life motto "Never leave your partner",but that does not apply when he has to meet the needs of his lovely wife Katherine Holt (Erin Bethea) who works as a public relation officer in the local hospital.

It all started when Caleb returns home from a dangerous task and finds out that there is no food in the kitchen. He imminently gets very nervous and starts arguing with his wife Katherine about that. She, on the other hand, cannot stay still and blames him for being irresponsible and for not taking a time to do the shopping, because according to her he has more free time than her. And the fight does not stop there, it continues with more harsh words from both sides. He says that she does not need to work, instead, can stay home and take care of the household, and she replies with a complaint that recently he has been selfish by saving money for an expensive boat rather than investing for a wheelchair that will meet the needs of her aging mother. The everyday fights between them don't have an end, that is why they finally decide to divorce and to continue on with their lives.
In one occasion Caleb confesses to his father what he is going through in his marriage and asks for his advice. His father, who has gone through the same situation in the past with his wife (Caleb's mother), asks him to commit to a 40-day experiment related to his relationship with his wife and to do everything that is written in the personal journal he sends to him, without skipping a day. Caleb does not know that the journal he receives from his father is actually retailing his father's struggles in his marriage, experiences, fights and how he has overcome that painful moment. Caleb agrees to take this challenge, for the sake of his father, and as a last chance to save his marriage.
Meanwhile, a doctor at the hospital is interested in Kathrine, and they start meeting over lunch and show a mutual attraction, which is what she has been asking from her husband lately, a little attention and a comforting hand.
Caleb eagerly is doing everything that is written in the journal, but without any success. While in the middle of the 40-day challenge, he even thinks to give up, but his father encouraged him to keep it up. Finally, he comes to the point where he completely surrender himself to Jesus Christ, the ultimate love. He repents about everything he has done so far in his life, finds the right source of love, the meaning of life and his existence and saves his marriage.
Through Caleb's character, the producers want to demonstrate that you mustn't give up, you have to fight over every life circumstance, but before that you have to know who you are made in Christ, what is His plan for you, and only then you can experience the fullness of life.
Because this inspiring movie played a very significant part in my life, I greatly recommend it to all who are going through some unsolved marriage issues and to the ones who still haven't experienced the healing power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
