Going to the gym can be a real problem to some people for a few different reasons. Regardless if this reason is because of them being too self conscious to exercise in front of others which are in better shape or simply because of the gym fees, they simply can't bring themselves to do it. However, there are a few items that they could get that are inexpensive, don't take up too much space but will still let them workout as much as they want in the privacy of their own home.
Yoga Mat
This item is pretty much the quintessential piece of home gym equipment which can allow you to do a wide variety of exercises while taking up no space at all. As you might have guessed, the yoga mat is meant to give you a softer surface that you can do your workout on so that you don't have to do it on the hard floor. However, don't let its name fool you, since this mat isn't just limited to being used for yoga, but can instead be used for push-ups, sit-ups and almost any other workout you might have in mind.
Foam Roller
If you are interested in building your core strength as well as improving your balance, then there's no better item than the foam roller. In essence the way that you use a foam roller is by placing either the upper or lower part of your body on it and exercising in a way that you move it forwards and backwards while keeping your balance and elevation. Most of the exercises that you can do on the foam roller are designed to primarily strengthen your abdominal muscles, but while also toning your upper or lower body. Additionally, this item is about as versatile as a medicine ball, but takes up far less space.
Strap Weights
When you think of home gym equipment the first thing you probably think of is dumbbells or maybe a press bench, but you probably wouldn't think of strap weights. These can come in two types basically, the ones that attach to your arms and legs and the vest, and they can vary in terms of weight. Regardless of which type you get, their main benefit is that they will allow you to build some muscle or tone the ones you have while leaving your hands free. This is a great benefit when doing everything from push-ups to squats since you can devote your entire attention to the exercise in question.
