If taekwondo is your choice then you need to opt for taekwondo uniform. These suits are very similar to those used in karate with the main difference in the neck section. They are available in both, white V-neck or black V-neck. You will also need a trouser but they are sold separately so you will need to spend a few dollars more. Uniforms for practising tai chi or kung fu are all black and feature the same design. Practising ordinary boxing or kickboxing require for boxing gloves, inner elastic gloves that are used under the regular boxing gloves for increased protection and a pair of boxing shorts as well.
Once you choose the right uniform for you it's time to look for the martial arts gear. Fist you need to invest in a head guard. The center is the piece of gear where you shouldn't compromise with quality because it needs to keep your head well protected during the fight. However, before spending a great amount of money for such a piece ask the instructor whether you need one because not all martial arts require to have a head guard. Shin pads may be recommended or may not. However, it is a good idea to buy some for your own peace of mind.
