Snowboarding Accessories - What Do You Need to Tune Your Equipment

During the snowboarding season, there are many reasons why you should periodically tune-up your snowboard. You may ride over obstacles, such as rocks, that can leave scratches on the bottom of your board and this can impact its performance. If you notice that your boarding is riding slower down the slopes and is not reacting like it normally would, then chances are it need to be tuned. There are many ways to tune up a snowboard, but for that, you need to get the proper snowboarding accessory first. I'm talking about wax, iron, vices, scrapers, etc.

For a better snowboarding experience, here is a list with the snowboarding accessory items you will need to tune-up your snowboarding.

Waxing Iron

You will need to get a good iron if you really want to deal in your snowboard for a fast ride. Look for a model that has a wider surface area for ease of use when waxing a snowboard and a temperature specific dial to easily lock in the correct temperature for your given wax.

Wax

For a fast ride in any condition, get yourself some all temperature fluorinated haul ass wax. In addition to being a great product, this wax is also scented with a pleasant banana aroma for enhanced tuning pleasure.

Tuning Vices

You will want to invest in a solid set of vices for your work station. Look for snowboard specific tuning vices that offer increased stability for dialling in your edges and laying down a solid scrape once your board is waxed up.

Tune Kit

There are tune kits that will come with all the little nick-knacks and tools you will need once you've finished waxing your board. From filing your edges to tuning, scraping, waxing and polishing, an easy to pack kit will facilitate your way from waxing to ripping.

Although you don't need much space for a board tuning setup, having a room that is well ventilated is a good idea because wax fumes can be overpowering at times. You also won't necessarily need a permanent space, but it is easier and more convenient to have an area that is solely dedicated to tuning. During the wax processing, wax drippings will happen, and over time they will become a timestamp of sorts, growing bigger and bigger after every season.

Once you make the initial investment, you won't have other costs, expect for wax. The added performance of having a consistent tuned board also help in improvements. So make sure to keep your snowboard always tuned up.
